Who can apply for an apartment from Kouvolan Asunnot?
Anyone can apply for an apartment from Kouvolan Asunnot. The applicant’s credit information is checked, and their ability to pay the rent is verified. Previous housing issues, such as eviction, warnings, and rent debts, can make it more difficult to obtain an apartment. Priority is given to applicants who have a job or study place in Kouvola or have another social reason for a need of an apartment.
How do you apply for an apartment?
We make tenant selections based on apartment applications. Start the apartment application process by filling out an apartment application form. Filling out the application does not obligate the applicant in any way, but by completing it, the applicant may be offered an apartment that matches their search criteria. Only those who have filled out an apartment application can visit and see the available apartments. Please fill out the application closely to ensure that you will be included in our tenant selections.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Apartment application
Closely fill out the apartment application form and wait for our contact. The apartment application is valid for three months at a time. Renewing, modifying, or deleting the application can be done through the editing link sent to the applicant’s email along with the application confirmation or by contacting customer service.
- Apartment offer
When a suitable apartment becomes available, you will receive an apartment offer by email or mail and we will also notify you via text message. Please make sure to provide up-to-date contact information on your application.
- Apartment viewing
Once you have received an apartment offer, please visit the apartment within its valid period. The apartment offer will provide instructions how to arrange a viewing.
- Accepting the apartment offer
Within the validity period mentioned in the apartment offer, please notify us if you accept the offer. If we do not receive a response by the deadline, we will offer the apartment to the next applicant and your application will expire. Therefore, please inform us even if you do not accept the apartment so that your application remains valid, and we can offer you another apartment.
How quickly are apartment applications processed?
We generally process apartment applications within 2 business days. We will contact the applicant as soon as we have a suitable apartment to offer. Sometimes there may be multiple applicants for the same property, or we may not have an available apartment that matches the criteria stated in the application. Therefore, it may be necessary to wait for an apartment offer/contact. Unfortunately, at the moment, we are unable to individually notify applicants who are not selected in our tenant selections or if there is no available apartment to offer them at that particular time.
Important to know:
- We do not process incomplete applications.
- We verify the applicant’s credit information from the Suomen Asiakastieto Oy credit information register.
- The applicant’s housing history should be without any issues. For example, rent debts or eviction from another landlord can make it difficult to obtain an apartment from us.
Priority is given to applicants who have a job or study place in Kouvola or have another social reason for a need of an apartment.
It is possible to exchange apartments when there are changes in life circumstances, such as health, family size, or financial situation. Internal apartment exchanges within Kouvolan Asunnot are applied for by filling out an apartment application.
The criteria for granting an apartment exchange are:
- Health reasons (a medical certificate is required as an attachment to the application).
- When the family size changes and the current apartment is too small or when the financial situation changes and the current apartment is too expensive.
Generally, the tenant must have lived in the current apartment for one (1) year before an exchange is possible, except for the reasons mentioned above. Before the apartment exchange, the current apartment is inspected to assess its condition.
The security deposits are specific to each apartment. The security deposit for the new apartment must be paid before the rental agreement is made. The old security deposit will be refunded if all the obligations related to the apartment have been fulfilled after the final move-out inspection.
